Clinical Assessment of Infant Anatomy
Goal
Assess oral anatomy.
Objectives
- State the definition for at least 10 terms as related to the intraoral or extra oral cavity.
- Given a text-only description of a photo, distinguish normal from abnormal findings of various parts of the intraoral or extraoral structures in the infant.
- Give a brief description of the main function of various structures including the lips, tongue, alveolar ridge, lingual frenulum, buccal pads, and palates.
- Recognize indicators that the infant should be referred to a medical or other health professional.
- Determine if the infant is exhibiting reflexes as would be expected for his age.
