Goal
Assess the infant/child for colic, gastroesophageal reflux, gastroesophageal reflux (GER) disease (GERD) and food intolerances and their impact on breastfeeding
Objectives
- State the definition, signs and symptoms for gastroesophageal reflux.
- State the definition, signs and symptoms for gastroesophageal reflux disease.
- Differentiate between GER and GERD.
- Recognize strategies for coping with GER.
- Recognize why invasive tests might be used for gastroesophageal signs and symptoms.
- Describe the “colic hold”
- Provide parents of breastfed infants with accurate advice about constipation.
